The Ever Evolving Evolution of Smooth

Evolution of Smooth has seen the lips of many famous musicians and celebrities. Despite their humble beginnings, EOS shows no signs of slowing down after becoming one of the second best-selling lip balms in the world. Their true claim to fame is their unique round tubes, which made their lip balm a true fashion statement. The design was the brain child of Sanjiv Mehra, Jonathan Teller, and Craig Dubitsky. The trio saw the lip balm market was largely popular among females and sought to make a lip balm that could cater to the fashionable woman.

Not just content on reinventing lip balm, they wanted it to be something that was built to last and not another run-of-the-mill fashion fad. And with that came their signature design. The EOS lip balm team sought out a sales representative to find out where they stood with their product. The design had made several drug stores weary about the product. Oddly enough, the fear was that their lip balm wasn’t something a man would buy. However one female buyer at a Walgreens loved the product, and after some very strong sales, other big retailers like Target and Wal-Mart soon followed.

EOS saw a huge boom, and with that came expansion. The small start-up was now competing with top lip balm manufacturers like Blixtex and Burt’s Bees. EOS had decided to focus on supplying their own in-house equipment and through that they created a completely automated assembly that put the company on the map with speedy production times. After several years, the brand is still going strong with many imitators now coming from the same top brands they were once shadowed by. EOS now sees about one million sales a week. Not bad for a company that changed the face of a century old product. For more info, please visit
