Eric Lefkofsky and his Role at Tempus

Eric Lefkofsky was born and raised in Southfield, Michigan. His mother is a school teacher and his father is a structural engineer. After graduating high school in 1987, Lefkofsky went on to study at the University of Michigan where he graduated in 1991. He then continued to go to school for Juris Doctor and received that in 1993.While still in college, Eric Lefkofsky started out by selling carpet. He fell in love with business and worked hard to ensure that he could grow any business that he wanted. Over the years, Lefkofsky has had been helping to run many businesses including Groupon, LightBank, and Uptake. He also supports several different charity works. In 2016, he cofounded Tempus and has been running the company as the CEO.

What is Tempus?

Tempus is a company that helps doctors to be able to deliver personalized cancer care. In cancer research, it has become imperative to do research into genetic sequencing to offer a personalized plan that works for the individual. Many cancer treatments offer a single treatment that is not individualized. It is more of a one size fits all type of treatment. At Tempus, the lab aided in robotic technology helps to map out the genes and find out what treatments would work best for the type of cancer and the genetic code that the person has.
